A Productive Weekend

On Thursday night headed for Utah after Jacob got off work. We had family to visit, a wedding to attend, and hunting to do (actually, only Jacob on that hunting part!). On Friday, on our way to the SL Temple, we were able to stop and visit with Jacob's Grandma and spend a little time with her. We would have loved to stay longer, but off to the temple we had to be. We attended the ceremony of my good friend Rusty and his cute new bride, and we were so grateful that they invited us. We are super happy for them, and their ceremony and reception on Friday were awesome. We even got to catch up with some other friends, Maegan & Konrad, that we haven't seen in a while... it was great. Saturday, Ava and I visited with my mom for a couple hours and took her to lunch, while Jacob went hunting with his dad and brother somewhere by Tooele. His brother Jeremy was the hunter this time, and deer were his target! The hunt was successful and towards the end of the day they came home with a 2-point and bloody pants (from the deer)! All part of a day's work for a hunter I guess! We stayed for church and lunch on Sunday and came home in the afternoon with a short stop in Farmington to check out the newly purchased house of our friends, The Bergstroms.

As we were driving home, I was thinking about our weekend, and the fact that we were able to accomplish a lot of things during our visit, which is now imperative since we live farther away and don't get to visit as much. I also realized, in my thought processes, that we always come home with more stuff then we left with! This is not a bad thing, because we came home with some pretty cool stuff, so our trip was productive in more ways than one! Here's the list, and we didn't buy any of it:

* Shirts, a nice western suit coat, & a white Navy uniform hat worn by Jacob's grandpa
* Funny emails and an awesome website (sharing to follow soon), a cute pumpkin, vitamins, glitter glue sticks to use for Ava's costume, starts for a Wandering Jew plant, conference on CD's, and flower seeds from only a few of Karen's (Jacob's mom) plethera of flowers
* An Etch-A-Sketch for TV, my Grandma's journals, memoirs and mission experiences, a charcoal BBQ grill (to be delivered, some Wall Pops, and a carpet cleaner
* A rubbermaid tub filled with porcelain dolls, some stuffed animals, an autographed Harlem Globetrotters basketball, and a trunk of my baby stuff (mostly the nice blankets and afghans that were hand made). Actually, these things already belong to me, but just don't currently reside with me, which will change upon delivery of the items to our house! We just couldn't manage to fit all that in the Saturn!
* Several issues of Field & Stream, and some brownies which obviously didn't make it all the way home. Small side note on these items: the issues of Field & Stream were from Daron just in case anyone else finds that funny!

So, all-in-all we pretty much made out like bandits, as the saying goes! And all items will be used (or stored in some cases) with love and appreciation. Thanks everyone!

The following quotes have nothing to do with the actual post, but I liked them so much that I need to share before I forget them!

From a talk we heard in church:
"Worrying is like rocking in a rocking chair... it gives you something to do, but gets you no where." I like it; it fits me!
A sign on Grandma Newman's fridge (slightly paraphrased because I can't remember exact wording):
"Live your life each day in such a way that when your feet hit the floor each morning Satan says... 'Oh shit, she's awake!'"
