Mmm Mmm Good!

We made strawberry freezer jam... and it worked! Yesterday we bought a couple flats of strawberries for $8 a flat! This is a screamin' good deal, but unfortunately I can't take the credit for finding it, because Jacob is the one who saw the sign! Anyway, we bought a couple (1 probably would have been plenty) and decided to make some freezer jam. Our last attempt at freezer jam was several years ago with peaches, and it was a no go. It still tasted good, but didn't set up so it was more like syrup. We have concluded, after turning out a batch of real jam this time, that it must have been the cheaper brand of pectin that we used. So, no more cheap pectin for us; it's Sure-Jell all the way! I got the recipe online, but it is the Sure-Jell recipe that comes inside the box. It seemed to be the most popular and easiest one, so that's what we went with. We have almost used up all the jars/containers we had in the several batches that we have made, and we still have another entire flat to go!!! Jacob has already made bread twice today so we can enjoy our sweet, sugary, delicious, homemade freezer jam! Mmm Mmm Good!!! We'll save a jar for anyone that comes to visit us :)

Good work. Bread twice in one day? Maybe Jake should just look into making bigger batches! (Might I suggest an investment into a Bosch?!) Save us some jam. We'll come visit, and after we go crazy picking plums tomorrow, hopefully we'll have lots of dried ones to share!
