It's Wednesday night & all is well. We spent 1/2 of the day driving & the other 1/2 @ my mom's place. Thursday morning we headed out for the annual "Newman Thanksgiving Day Turkey Shoot." As we were leaving I began to wonder what it looked like to the neighbors to see the entire Newman family loading up a large arsenal of weapons! :) We all took turns wielding the aforementioned arsenal & shooting things to smithereens! Even the kiddos got involved. Ava shot a gun for the very first time - Uncle Jeremy's .22.
It still amazes me that he can just hold the gun down until the clay flies, bring the gun up
find the clay, follow it, & hit it all in a matter of a couple seconds!
Big shoes & big guns don't mix!
Emma liked it because she got to play in Grandpa's truck the whole time!
All the women left before the clay pigeon tournament began so we didn't get pictures of the actual fun, but it probably looked something like this...
Grandpa Newman took the gold spray-painted clay pigeon trophy this year, but just barely! We heard conflicting stories when they all got home so we're not really sure what happened or if the scoring was completely accurate, but the trophy lives with Grandpa... until next time!!! It's Thursday night & all is well! Thanksgiving dinner was yummy, the kids all had fun playing together, & it was a nice relaxing day.
It's Friday morning & all is NOT well! Namely me! I woke up Friday morning with a raging sore throat & a body that felt like it had been hit by a bus. Yep... Strep! After much deliberating I decided that it would be best if we just packed up & went home, thus foregoing the remainder of the plans that we had for the trip. We had planned to see the lights turn on @ Temple Square that evening, but I guess it just wasn't in the cards. We made it home safe & sound and I'm glad to report that we are on the mend and the strep has, so far, alluded both Jacob & Ava. Lucky them!
