What We Did This Summer

Now that it's October... guess I should blog about Summer!!! Last year we started making a little chart of things the kids wanted to do/accomplish during the summer months off from school. It proved to be a good way to keep us motivated & not allow summer days to slip away. This year turned out to be a slightly different story. We started out with all of the good intentions, making our chart but keeping it a little more simple this time. Turns out the kids got stuck with a pregnant mom that didn't feel good or have much energy a lot of the time to be motivated to do much of anything! Sad for them :(  It's a good thing Summer comes next year too!

We didn't let all the days go to waste, however & managed to get some fun in here & there. Here's a quick recap of some of our Summer events, complete with pics.

We discovered Letterboxing which is a bit like Geocaching minus the GPS. The kids created their own stamps to participate & we went on several hunts throughout the Summer. It's a past time we'll keep handy.

Fishing was on the list. We went a few times, but never caught a thing - seriously!
We might have to leave it off next year!

Having the trailer around made for a few fun lunches when friends came over to play.

When we couldn't think of much to do we filled the days with homemade snow cones & outdoor art projects. Both were easy setup & clean up - perfect for the pregnant mom! (We highly recommend the purchase of a snow cone maker. We got ours on Amazon for around $25, then made our own syrup from Kool-Aid.
One of our best purchases ever!)

A family in our ward has a slip-n-slide party each year & it is always a hit! All age groups get in on the fun!

Fat Cats in Rexburg has .99 attractions & food during the summer months. It's a cheap way to spend a day & have a little fun so we had to take advantage.

And that's the end. We did a few other things, but none with pictures. At least we can't call it a completely failed summer, but we'll definitely be making a better effort next year.
