For the 4th

The common question surrounding this particular holiday, "What are you doing/did you do for the 4th?" Well, I'm here to answer that question, whether you were asking or not!

The weekend before the 4th there is a large fireworks show @ Huntsman Springs in Driggs, ID (about 2 hrs. from us). We wanted to check it out last year, but couldn't make it so this year was our year. They had plenty of food vendors & bouncy houses with plenty of long lines to go with them! We stood in a few bouncy house lines before we couldn't stand it anymore! Some Idaho wind & a little rain changed the scheduled entertainment for the evening, but we were still able to see The Surf City All-Stars (which features 2 original Beach Boys) & Lee Greenwood during the fireworks. The fireworks show was AWESOME! That breeze made it a bit chilly, so we huddled under our blankets while we ate our picnic dinner.

On the actual holiday, we kept it low key & just hung around the house waiting for BBQ time. We gave baths to the car & truck, painted festive nails, & kept cool in the house while we waited.

We have some fun friends that we celebrate with each year playing games, slip & sliding, water balloon fighting, eating food & watching fireworks. It's always a good time & this year was no exception! Emma made a new friend, Wyatt, whom she decided was not her "best friend" (that title already belongs to Ruby), but he could still be her friend anyway! Should have taken a pic of them playing - they were fun to watch!

This blog is like a journal for our family so I'm including this for journal purposes, to help us remember. The IF fireworks were scheduled to begin @ 10pm, but were delayed due to someone being lost in the Snake River, near where they set off the fireworks. We kept busy playing games & dancing to the music while we waited. The show was delayed so SAR could look for that person in the river. They kept the crowds updated over the radio station & asked us to pray for that person, which we gladly did. What a great experience to gather our families & take a few minutes to say a short prayer for someone that needed help. The fireworks show continued @ 11pm instead & was a great show. Turns out that person sadly died in the river & our hearts go out to that family.
