We're hoping this movie quote rings true for Jacob & the taxidermy customers! Lately, the "they will come" part seems to be carrying with it a bunch of problems, stresses & things breaking down! But, the shop is built & last week was its inaugural work week where it was actually used for its intended purpose - taxidermy work! It took way longer than originally expected, but we blame that on our own lack of knowledge of the construction world & our extremely high expectations of having it all done in just a couple of weeks!
HA HA! Along the way we've dealt with electrical problems, broken refrigerators, blown tires, & car repairs among other things. When it rains, it pours & we've been experiencing some heavy torrential rains in our immediate area! (For some reason it seems to be skipping the neighbors though!)
Although Jacob has spent a lot of time working on the shop, we credit the majority of the hard & most important parts to a few choice people.
Burke (Jacob's Dad) who came for a whole week, worked sun-up to sun-down, sweat buckets, & provided his construction know-how to get the job up & running.
Jeremy (Jacob's brother) who came to run all the electrical wiring. Please note that the aforementioned electrical problems had nothing to do Jeremy or any work that he performed!
Devin (a friend in the ward) who became a literal "construction question hotline." He got us great deals on lumber & building supplies & answered about a million questions along the way.
Here are some pics of the building process & the finished product.

Is the shop in your backyard or someone else? Growing up with a dad working in the backyard is about as good as it gets. It's nice to have him around and involved with everyday life.
Good luck!
