WARNING:
Several of the following photos may be disturbing to some viewers. Our first "chopping" victims were that of 43 chicken heads! We got the whole family involved & although some were a little leery to start with, everyone (including the kids) lent a hand in some portion of the whole chicken process. We had some laughs at the expense of the headless chickens & we managed not to turn anyone into a vegetarian (although the overwhelming smell of raw chicken meat permeating my kitchen for several hours about did me in!)
Carter & chicken!
Chelsea, Ava & chicken!
Grandpa was the designated "chopper!"
A done deal!
After a little chicken chopping, all the boys decided to do a little tree chopping & our backyard provided the 3 dead pine trees for that project. The first tree came down without a hitch. The second, & largest of the 3, had some scare tactics in store for the "choppers." Instead of falling in the direction intended, it threatened to fall toward the house, which would have sealed a bad fate for the garage. But, with a large chain, a truck & some mighty pushing it fell in the right direction, leaving behind some sweaty guys with hearts all-a-flutter! As for the final tree, it got hooked up with the chain & the truck as well, just for safety measures, & down she came. Ashlee was the only onlooker smart enough to carry a camera & she got some good shots!

TIMBER!!!

Sounds like regular ol' country chopping to me. I don't know if I could handle the chickens-- I'm a bit weak sauce!
