Baptism Day

Saturday, January 18th, 2014... BAPTISM DAY!

Ava Marie Newman chose to be baptized a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints on this special day & was able to share it with many family members, teachers, neighbors & friends.

Ava prepared for her baptism by working on memorizing some of the Articles of Faith and learning about the covenants & blessings she would make & receive. Our stake had a special baptism fireside where all children turning 8 in the year could attend, learn more about baptism & receive their own baptism bag with small items inside to help remind them about the most important parts of being baptized. It was a wonderful & well thought out evening that the kids & their families were able to enjoy.

Ava planned out her baptism program from the speakers to the song, the prayers and the food! Grandma Newman & Lisa Jolley were the speakers & they did a GREAT job! Ava invited her friends to sing her favorite new Primary song with her as the closing song. ("Build an Ark" listen here) I don't know about anyone else, but this Mom sure didn't have a dry eye. There is something wonderful & touching about watching these little 7/8 year old friends sing & knowing they will grow up together in the gospel & be great examples to other little girls as Young Women.

Most everyone stayed to share a lunch of chili, rolls & cupcakes after the baptism. Ava received many hugs, hand shakes & beautiful gifts to congratulate her on her big day.
