Christmas Recap

Christmas 2011 came... we celebrated... it left. Over the course of the normal celebratory days Jacob & Emma were sick (Jacob still - which he is none too happy about being the member of the family that almost never gets sick!). I managed to keep sickness at bay until after the holiday & Ava has been lucky enough to not get it at all. The rest of us are jealous!

The girls had a great Christmas & got just what they asked for from Santa! As a parent, that is the most exciting thing about Christmas nowadays - watching the magic unfold. It's the best!

*Side note: Santa dropped by a little Christmas party that we threw together for kids in our ward. It was double magic for Ava when Santa already knew her name & didn't have to ask! She was in complete awe!

The holidays were low key for us, but we still managed to have a yummy Christmas dinner & our homemade pizza tradition on Christmas Eve. Since Christmas was on a Sunday, the girls got to see what Santa had brought them & then we headed off to church. It was actually a really nice way to kick off the day. We had a great sacrament meeting full of song & Ava got lots of compliments for her participation in the choir. After church we opened the remaining presents which turned out to be kind of a blur for me because it happened so fast!

I'll also add that we attended our 2nd year of a "New Year's party for people who don't want their kids to stay up until midnight!" It is such a great way to party with friends & still get our kids to bed at a fairly decent hour. If you want to know how it works: the party is from 6-10pm & we make our own countdown for the kids to celebrate @ 10pm instead of midnight. Then we all go home & put our kids to bed! Works great.

That's about it for us & the holidays. Sometimes I wish we had more to tell. More parties, more activities, more celebrating. But, more isn't always better & although we would have had fun had we attended "more" things... the lack thereof suited us just fine! Here's to a new year of LESS!
